Apple introduced Optimized Battery Charging, a new feature. This feature is automatically enabled. an iPhone can learn your daily routine and predict how long the iPhone will remain on the charger after you go to bed at night. You'll soon discover that your iPhone is always on the charger when you wake up at 8 a.m.

This prediction of daily behavior means that the optimized battery charge will prevent your phone from fully charging to 100% immediately after you connect it. The iPhone battery will instead charge to around 80%. The iPhone battery will charge to 80% over the course of the night even if it is connected to the charger.

This graph can be seen on the iPhone battery graph when active. The load graph gradient shows a clear step, as shown in the above example. The iPhone will quickly reach 80% charge when connected to power. Wait at 80% for the remainder of the night; this is marked by a dark blue line.

The iPhone will predict when it will drain the battery. This happens usually around the time you get up in the morning. After that, it charges to 100% as indicated by the blue line. This reduces the time that the battery is at 100% charge and prolongs its life.
