Courses In Massage Therapy In Sydney – Common Studies

Once you have decided on a career as a massage therapist, it is important to explore the various massage courses on offer. For example, if you are interested in the Asian body, there are several massage therapy courses specifically designed to teach healing arts such as acupressure/Shiatsu, Tuina (Chinese medical massage), Thai massage, and meridian therapy.

Common studies often offered in massage courses include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, and sports massage. In addition, general training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, and body mechanics is often integrated into an in-depth massage curriculum.

Other comprehensive massage therapy courses may include hands-on training in various body modes such as reflexology; chair massage, pregnancy and infant massage, geriatric massage, craniosacral therapy. Basic instructions for bodybuilders include hygiene, CPR, and first aid; and training in business, communications, and marketing.

Depending on which massage course you take, you can expect 300 to 500 hours of study. However, some massage colleges may offer more advanced massage therapy courses with a duration of more than 1000 hours.

In most cases, healing arts schools that offer massage therapy courses usually add to the day and night programs; and in some cases weekend classes.

Career prospects are promising for successful candidates who have completed all required courses in massage therapy and are certified and licensed professionals.
